A great number of youngsters, approx 120, have participated in the Terra Madre Day 2014 event in the Commune of Shkrel, Malesi e Madhe. The event was called “The Feast of Kaçimak”. It was the first experience for the youngsters coming from all the villages of Shkrel valley who gathered at the Church of Shkrel to celebrate their good and traditional food.
The preparations started a day before, when 40 kg of potatoes were peeled. Kaçimak is a typical mountainous dish which is prepared with potatoes, corn flour, cheese, pig meat and butter. It was very fun for the kids to prepare the food themselves and enjoy it altogether. The professor of the school of the village of Bogë explained to the kids the principles of Slow Food and ESSEDRA. Also, some informative materials including biodiversity and Ark of Taste were distributed to them. The feast continued with folk dances and songs.
